Help Us Help Them!!

We are currently assisting the Ontario SPCA Sudbury and District Branch in rehoming 200 rabbits (Dwarfs and Lops) that have recently been removed from a neglectful situation. (For more information, please read the official Press Release)

Thank you to those who have helped by committing themselves to fostering. Your generousity, compassion and support is overwhelming. Because of your help we are able to take in 9 rabbits. The response to our plea was higher than this but unfortunately we are unable to stretch New Moon's finances any further.

All 9 rabbits will be health checked, spayed/neutered and receive medical care by New Moon Rabbit Rescue. These costs are expected to exceed $2500. We are in great need of donations to help cover these costs.

As most are aware we also recently helped out the Montreal SPCA with their overwhelming amount of rabbits by taking in 7 rabbits whose medical cost have totaled over $1600 to date.

To make a donation please visit www.newmoonrabbitrescue.ca - You can make a secure donation through the Canada Helps link or Paypal link found on the left side of the homepage.

Whether it is small or large everything makes a difference!

Unfortunately because of the current Canada Post strike we have been unable to receive donations by mail. However if you choose to send a donation by mail once the strike has ended, please send cheque or money order to: New Moon Rabbit Rescue, P.O. Box 24, North Gower ON K0A 2T0 - All donations over $10 will receive a tax receipt

On behalf of all rescues involved, thank you to Martin Mills for the donations of a bag of rabbit food for each rescued rabbit!

Our thanks also go to Bourne Free Farms for their donation of 35 bags of hay for the rabbits.

Once again we would like to thank everyone for your support. We could not do this without you!

You are all our BUNNY HEROES!

Bunny Profile - Perline

Perline is a beautiful and tiny Mini Rex. She is one of 7 rabbits that were transferred to New Moon Rabbit Rescue from Montreal SPCA on 11 June 2011. She was originally brought to the SPCA on 12 March 2011 as an owner surrender.

Perline is young, born in Sept 2010. We chose sweet Perline to come to New Moon because she was not coping well with shelter life. She was showing aggression to the staff and to make matters worse is an unspayed female right in the middle of adolescence! In that situation she didn't stand a chance of adoption. However since she has been here she has been a sweet heart and spend most of her time begging for attention. Once she has had her spay which is scheduled for 24 June 2011 we are more than confident that these issues will no longer be any concern.

Perline is very playful. She loves her run time and loves to interact with you inside and outside of her cage. She loves to explore and binky and she chins absolutely everything she can find - even you! She loves her hay and greens but is less impressed with her pellets and would prefer to avoid them all together.

She is working on her litter training but she needs her spay before she will be able to figure this out but she is young and has lots of time for boring things like that!!

If you are interested in adopting Perline or any other New Moon Rabbit Rescue rabbit please visit our website at www.newmoonrabbitrescue.ca and fill out an Adoption Application.

Orianne was born in May 2008. She has a beautiful harlequin colouring, soft coat, adorable ears and a wonderful personality to match. She is active and inquisitive and eager to find her new home. She is not nervous and loves getting pets. Orianne was living free range in her previous foster home in Montreal and is therefore completely litter trained. She loves her hay and loves her food but is still looking for her perfect toys.

Bunny Profile - Quinn

Quinn is a very special little Mini Rex with a look all his own. He is one of 7 rabbits that were transferred to New Moon Rabbit Rescue from Montreal SPCA on 11 June 2011. He originally came to the SPCA as part of a small seizure. Quinn's ear were eaten by his father at birth but regardless of this he is able to hear and is untraumatised by his early start in the world.

Quinn is an amazing sweet little man who absolutely loves to be cuddled, he just wants love and attention. He is a little nervous in new situations, including when first meeting other animals but we have all confidence that once he settle into his new home - He will make himself right at home.

His litter training is getting better be once he has had his neuter it will be much easier for him to figure out. Quinn loves playing and very much enjoys to push his new toy ball around. He is very active and is not afraid to take on a staircase or two to get where he wants to go. Quinn is an excellent hay eater which is always a bonus.

Quinn will be available for adoption as soon as he has had a chance to recover from his neuter. He is scheduled for surgery on 23 June 2011.

Words cannot describe how sweet this little man is! He has so much personality and is just waiting to be the apple of someones eye! Guimauve getting better at his litter training but has not yet been neutered and this will certainly make a big difference. He is scheduled for his neutered on 23 June 2011.

Guimauve is very friendly and not at all nervous. He is not afraid of cats or dogs but would really like to get their attention all the time. He enjoys his hay very much and is good at being picked up and held. Guimauve would make a wonderful rabbit for someone who is only just finding out how wonderful rabbits can be... Anais is an adorable broken orange Holland Lop. She is one of 7 rabbits that was transferred to New Moon Rabbit Rescue from Montreal SPCA on 11 June 2011. She had originally come to the SPCA as a stray bunny.

We have only known Anais for a short time but she is a very friendly, wonderful little bunny to be around. She is litter trained and a good hay eater. She loves to run around and explore anything and everything she can. She loves to binky and play and even though we haven't found her "perfect toy" yet, she seems to always find a way to amuse herself.

Anais is very friendly and runs to see you whenever you enter the room. She is easy to pick up and hold and does not seem to be afraid of dogs of cats.

Although her age is not know she seems to be a younger rabbit that we would guess to be 1-2 years old. Anais is currently awaiting her spay which is scheduled for 24 June 2011 and will be available for adoption as soon as she is recovered.

If you are interested in adopting Anais or any other New Moon Rabbit Rescue rabbit please visit our website at www.newmoonrabbitrescue.ca and fill out an Adoption Application.

UPDATED Bunny Profile: Grace

Grace is an adult female, Dutch mix. She arrived at New Moon Rabbit Rescue on 1 December 2010 after living as a stray under a patio at Grace O'Malley's for quite some time. She would love to have a family and a home to call her own.

Grace is a very sweet and spunky little girl who loves to be out and about with the family. She tolerates being in her cage much better now that she has become more used to it but would really love to be a free-range bunny ALL of the time, or at least when you're home.

Grace is currently in foster care with a family who has small children and large dogs. She is no longer the timid bunny she was when she first arrived and now greets everyone, including the dogs when they approach her cage. When out her of cage she is a clown who really enjoys climbing, dancing and playing. She enjoys exploring her surroundings – she particularly likes to climb on top of things such as boxes, bags, stools...etc... As long as she can jump on it, it’s a good place to be as far as she’s concerned. She will cuddle with you while you relax after work and watch that movie that you've been dying to see, or entertain you with her binky-jumps while she dances around the house while you're making dinner or reading with your cup of coffee.

Grace has shown interest in her foster-home's resident rabbit and would most likely do well with another bunny or bunny-savvy animal pal in her future home. She's a social and friendly girl who thrives with pets and snuggles. Grace is not a picky eater, and LOVES her fresh hay and enjoys a variety of fruits and veggies. She has good litter box habits and is not destructive.

Grace is ready and looking for her future forever family, and can't wait to meet you!

If you are interested in giving Grace or another New Moon bunny a forever home, please visit our website at www.newmoonrabbitrescue.ca for more information and to fill out our Adoption Application.
