Respect, Privacy, Surrenders and Adoptions.

Social Medias can be a wonderful thing.  New Moon Rabbit Rescue would not be able to save half as many rabbits if it was not for the incredible people we have met and the amazing support we have received from our friends on Facebook, Twitter, etc.  We are so grateful to have been giving the opportunities that this has opened up for us.

Unfortunately, as with anything, there can be a down side or negative aspects that one must endure as well.  Over the year’s we have heard of an increasing number of fosters and adopters that because of accessibility on social media, have been contacted by the individuals that have surrendered or abandoned their unwanted pets.  Understandably many of these families are quite upset, angered or even disturbed by these individuals contacting them.  (Please note that although this does happen, these occurrences are still rare)

We would hope that those that surrender, abandon or give up their pets would understand that this is not appropriate but not all do.  Please know that under NO CIRCUMSTANCES have we ever given anyone’s information to other people without the consent of all parties involved.  ALL information provided to New Moon upon adoption/surrender/donation is kept completely confidential.

Having said that, we LOVE hearing from adopters and LOVE seeing updates and pictures that you share with us.  If you are concerned about being contacted, please check your security settings and what info you allow to be seen publicly.  You can also send us your happy homes stories directly and we would so happy to post them on our Facebook (and our website’s Happy Homes gallery) for you, leaving you with a higher level of anonymity.  

If you are someone who has surrendered/abandoned and unwanted pet, please understand that those have taken those animals into their homes, families and hearts may not want you to contact them.  Please respect that.

Hoppy 1st Birthday Sorrel!!

Hoppy Birthday to Sorrel!!  

One year ago today (26 March 2012) while his mother was in New Moon Rabbit Rescue’s care Sorrel was born AND a year later… he is STILL waiting for his forever home.  His sisters and brothers have almost all found homes (with exception of mother and son pair, Rosemary & Dill who ALSO still await adoption) 

but Sorrel still waits....

Sorrel is a very sweet, lovable and cuddly young man with the cutest little white button nose.  He loves to play, loves to explore and would love a family to share his happiness with.  Sorrel has a lot of energy and loves to be with his foster family (including his kitty friend!).  He is a good hay eater, completely litter trained and would love a home with lots of run time, maybe even free range living!

Events & Fundraisers for March 2013

February is almost OVER!!  There is only a few days left to take advantage of our February special.

This is our 3rd annual "Every Bunny Needs a Home" month at New Moon!  For the month of February we have reduced our adoption fees by 50%.  Our adoption fees help us cover the medical and surgical costs of all the animals that come in to our care.  They help us continue to save them!  We have hopes that offering reduced fees will help us find homes for some of the bunnies that are overlooked and have been waiting far too long for their dreams to come true.  It has been a great success in year's past.

ALL adopters must still complete the adoption application process during this time.
Any adoptions that are currently in progress, "pending", or applications that have already been approved are not included in this campaign.

Adoption Events & Fundraisers for March 2013

Adoption Event - Kanata Centrum Pet Valu (300 Earl Grey Drive, Kanata)
9 March 2013 from 1pm - 4pm

- We will be offering rabbit nails trims for a $10 donation (per rabbit).
- We will also be holding a St. Patrick's Pet Portraits fundraiser during the Saturday, 9 March Adoption Event.  See below poster for details!

Adoption Event - Hazeldean Rd Pet Valu (457 Hazeldean Rd, Kanata)
23 March 2013 from 11am - 3pm

- We will be offering rabbit nails trims for a $10 donation (per rabbit).
- Come out an meet some very special New Moon bunnies that are still in treatment.





Blue-Eyed Bunny is once again helping New Moon Rabbit Rescue!!  Until 31 March 2013 (or until supplies run out), Blue-Eyed Bunny will be donating 50% from every fleece blanket sold to our bunnies!
