Bunny Profile - Spook

Spook is a grey, mixed breed adult female who arrived on October 31, 2010.

She is a sweet, friendly girl who enjoys being pet, but isn't overly fond of being picked up.  She is a little bit nervous, but does like people and other small animals.  She is currently residing happily in a busy and sometimes loud family household!

Spook loves her hay, pellets, veggies and treats, especially banana.  One of her favourite pastimes is digging, especially in a box of shredded newspaper.  She loves having her hay served to her in a box or tube that she can throw around while snacking on it.  She is skilled in the art of the bunny flop.

Spook isn't fully litter trained yet, but she is getting better about not leaving messes when she exploring outside of her cage.  She is a little on the mischievous side as she enjoys chewing on things that little bunnies shouldn't chew on when she is having her play time.  She will need a well bunny proofed play area!

Spook is patiently waiting for a home to call her own.

Bunny Profile - McCartney

McCartney has been at New Moon since 1 August 2010.  At only 4 weeks old, he arrived with his nine brothers and sisters after being rescued from an burrow underneath a families front deck.  Many of his brothers and sisters have already found their forever homes while McCartney still waits. He is a handsome black boy who needs a family to call his own.

McCartney is a curious, friendly boy who will nudge you for attention but does not enjoy cuddling.  In his current foster home, he quickly learned that doing trick would earn him some extra treats!  He has lots of fun looking for treats in his digging box and shows his excitement at meal time by running around in circles!

McCartney is an adventurous boy who loves to explore and find new things to get into, he will need a well bunny proofed home with lots of safe things to play with to keep him occupied!

Bunny Profile - Neville

Neville came to New Moon on 10 April 2009. He has such a severe fear of humans that we are prepared for the fact that he may never be adoptable. Neville was born in April 2007 and  originally came from a rabbit mill. He was so traumatized that after a year of working with him his previous owner was yet to emotionally reach him and she herself had become emotionally exhausted by her efforts.  When he came to us our first thoughts were "Unbelievably frightened of humans - so much so, that he is a danger to himself".

Little has changed with Neville and he prefers the safety of his cage.  Once he gets to know you he is happy to show you how well he binkies and how much fun his toys are.  He will flop in your presence to show you how happy he is but is terrified of most forms of human contact.  We recommend a very large enclosure or homemade cage in an area where he can receive lots of human contact but still feels protected by the walls that separate him.  He needs a home that will respect and accept him for who he is, perhaps allowing him to someday form a bond of trust with even one person.

Neville will be adopted only to an EXPERIENCED home without children.

Neville is a beautiful little boy, in looks and spirit.  He deserve to be happy just like all other bunnies and wants nothing more than to be safe and loved.  We continue to hold out hope that someday his special person will come along and forever change his life.

Bunny Profile - Iggy

Iggy has been at New Moon since 1 August 2010.  At only 4 weeks old, he arrived with his nine brothers and sisters after being rescued from an burrow underneath a families front deck.  Many of his brothers and sisters have already found their forever homes while Iggy still waits.  Iggy is a gorgeous young boy with a pure white coat and blue/gray points.  He also has red eyes which may be the very reason he still waits for a home.  Many people find red eyes to be unattractive or even disturbing.  Leaving some of the most affectionate and loving rabbits waiting for homes for far too long.

Iggy is a laid back lad!  He is not nippy at all and seems to enjoy the company of any and all types of animals.  He is very inquisitive and loves to be pet, especially nose rubs!  He may be a little shy at first but once he has had a chance to get to know you, you will have a friend for life.  Iggy tolerates being picked but once you are securely holding him he loves a good cuddle.  He seems quite comfortable with children and has never bitten or shown any cage aggression.  He may grunt when he is looking for some quiet time but we all have bad days!.

Iggy is litter trained both in his cage and while he is out playing.  At present he is not a big chewer and leaves the furniture alone.  He loves to play with empty paper towel and toilet paper rolls and loves to fling around his straw ball.

Bunny Profile - Eric

Eric has been at New Moon since 1 August 2010.  At only 4 weeks old, he arrived with his nine brothers and sisters after being rescued from an burrow underneath a families front deck.  Many of his brothers and sisters have already found their forever homes while Eric still waits.  Eric is a gorgeous young boy with a pure white coat and blue/gray points.  He also has red eyes which may be the very reason he still waits for a home.  Many people find red eyes to be unattractive or even disturbing.  Leaving some of the most affectionate and loving rabbits waiting for homes for far too long.

In the words of his current foster mum;

"Eric is still somewhat nervous in general.  For the most part when he is laid back and relaxing he can be bit standoffish.  I don't think it's so much that he's shy, it's more like he's his own man and just not a cuddle bunny.  He'll accept a head rub on his own terms when he's ready, and not a minute before!!  Eric is quite the explorer and loves checking out his area after things have been changed around, or inspecting rooms outside his area.

There were only a couple of problems with him chewing corners in the beginning, but he quickly caught on that the cardboard and wood structures and toys were much better.  He does very well free range 24/7.  I can't really say he has any bad habits and he has almost perfect litter habits, leaving only a few "cocoa puffs" right outside his litter boxes.

He likes to stretch his legs every now and then with a good bunny 500 run, then follow it up with a nice flop.   When allowed he loves to laze the day away under the bed.   He'll chew his way through grass balls, and nibble to his heart's content on grass mats (especially when treats are hidden in the weave).  Eric doesn't like being picked up, or getting head/body rubs for too long! (but did enjoy cuddles with a previous foster)  And he's not a connoisseur of horror movies...

Bunny Profile - Annabeth

Annabeth arrived at New Moon 19 August 2010.  She was found as a stray, wandering in a park in the Nepean area and was very lucky to be scooped up by a kind family.  Annabeth is a beautiful little girl and a joy to be around.

She is quite active but is not comfortable being held or cuddled.  However this may change once she has a stable environment and has a loving family to call her own.  Annabeth is litter trained but in her current foster accommodations (partially caged) she loves to spend her time digging in her litter box and therefore making a bit of a mess in the process.  With more activities and more ways to use her energy her litter box might not seem so appealing!!

Annabeth is spayed and currently awaiting adoption.
